A moment of stillness and rest — a Founder's reflection on wellness, plateaus and the power of pausing

What Happens When We Pause

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE

A letter from our Founder.

"This is what can happen when you stop and pause." Not everything arrives by force, some things arrive because you finally stopped fighting for them.

One of the most common things I notice after summer is people come back from vacation telling me they're confused. They haven't trained as hard. Maybe just long daily walks. Perhaps not even eaten as strict. And yet here they are, feeling better than ever. Leaner. Stronger. Less bloated.

Have you heard the word plateau, in training or in any goal you're chasing? If not, it's that quiet, boring phase where nothing seems to happen. You're doing everything right, eating well, moving your body, and still nothing changes. What worked in the beginning stops showing results. That's the plateau. Why does this matter? Because it's one of the most important phases in your wellness journey. It's a rest phase. The body is charging, quietly preparing to progress, but that progress often needs the right circumstances to actually hit.

And that's what can happen on vacation.

You spent the months before building structure. Improving your diet. Training. Building new muscle. You worked hard, but life also gave you everything else to carry, work, family and all the noise in between. Your weekdays were optimal, but you were crashing on weekends. You were stressed, running on empty. So yes, your body built strength. It got stronger. You just couldn't feel the results. Not until now.

Not until you stopped.

This is what can happen when you stop and pause. Your body starts to relax, to feel safe, and all that foundation you quietly built becomes a force, finally free to move within peace. It responds now because before, it simply couldn't. It was too busy surviving fight or flight mode.

This is where the magic happens. This is why you might feel better, leaner, stronger right now. Remember that not everything arrives by force. Like plants. Like trees. Like a baby who suddenly takes their first steps out of nowhere, after weeks of quietly building the strength to do it.

So let's welcome September with this in mind. Or with the mantra I repeat to myself when I get too caught up and too hard on myself:

"I can achieve my wildest creative dreams, moving slow and resting often."

With love,
Nikie
